Circulo3: Now in Five Languages w/ Accelerating Performance
Circulo3 is here! This release expands access with support for German, Turkish, Spanish, French, and English, while also delivering performance improvements that make synchronization and action updates feel notably faster. This Circulo release will help even more people experience peer-to-peer payments and generate the types of real world feedback that has quickly resulted in improvements to both the Unyt accounting software that Circulo is built on as well as the underlying Holochain framework itself.
TL;DR
- Wider reach: Circulo is now accessible to speakers of Deutsch, Türkçe, Español, and Français, in addition to English.
- Performance: Faster synchronization and snappier action updates.
- Why this matters: Now hundreds of millions of non-English speakers can experience p2p payments -- and tell us how it can meet their needs.
- The road ahead: We want your feedback! What is better? What could be better? What is broken? Every improvement brings us closer to robust community credit systems, including the HOT → HoloFuel swap the Unyt team is building toward.
Built for More Communities: Five Languages
Circulo 3 ships with support for:
- Deutsch (German)
- Türkçe (Turkish)
- Español (Spanish)
- Français (French)
- English
Simply select a language from the drop down list within the settings modal and Circulo will display accordingly. This is a first pass. We'll continue refining phrasing and terminology with your feedback. If you spot anything off, want to help add support for another language, or would like to help improve one of the existing translations, we'd love to hear from you. See the "How you can Help" section below.
Faster Sync and Snappier Updates
In Circulo3, we will almost all be running zero arc versions of the app, which were notably slow when first rolled out in Circulo 2. While there is still room for improvement, we've already tuned synchronization under the hood and streamlined how actions update across the interface.
The result is a smoother experience with:
- Lower latency when syncing changes
- More responsive UI updates as actions complete and
- Improved reliability with fewer errors overall
In short, you should experience these improvements as "less waiting" and "more doing." They may still not be quite as fast as some of you experienced with full arc nodes last time, but should be significantly better than the zero arc experience in Circulo 2.
Common question: Why does Circulo reward generosity?
Circulo uses a very simple -- and yes, easily gameable -- credit algorithm.
Why? Because this makes it really easy for lots of people to try it out, kick the tires, experience both sides of "being generous" and provide feedback about their noticings.
At present the thing that matters is not whether or not some particular credit algorithm is tuned just right. What matters is that it is easy to download, install and immediately start sending payments, so that lots of people can participate -- and can contribute to helping improve all of the other parts of application -- from the look and feel, to the underlying validation rules and networking operations.
How Circulo Improves Unyt and Holochain
Circulo runs on Unyt, and Unyt runs on Holochain. Every improvement we make at these lower layers -- data integrity, synchronization, storage, validation, and UX primitives -- compounds into a better experience for applications like Circulo and beyond.
- For Unyt: We're improving the accounting kernel so it can support richer rulesets, more complex smart agreements, and interactions across currencies and communities.
- For Holochain: We're feeding back performance, reliability, and developer-experience improvements that benefit the entire ecosystem.
Each release brings us closer to robust, community-ready credit systems that can handle real economic activity at scale.
The Road to HoloFuel
The Unyt team is building tools to support robust credit and payment systems, including importantly, the upcoming HOT → HoloFuel swap. These tools have been the primary focus since Unyt's founding. In doing so Unyt is creating a solid foundation for a vibrant future for HoloFuel -- and many other currencies.
The lessons learned from Circulo help us find and fix issues, gain feedback about where things are clear and where they are confusing, and improve the overall user experience.
Perhaps most importantly, Circulo is helping give people a simple but lived experience of what it is like to work in a world of peer-to-peer credit and payments.
How You Can Help
- Reach out to us to try Circulo3 by sending an email to [email protected] with "I want to play!" in the Subject and we'll invite you to our Telegram channel.
- Use the app and share what surprises or frustrates you. This round of testing will run November 5-7, though the app will technically continue working as long as anyone wants to run it.
- Report issues or improvements -- via the Telegram channel -- especially around translations and sync behavior.
- Run small community experiments and tell us what you learn.
Your feedback is shaping the foundations. It's how we get from a simple, honest prototype to resilient community credit systems that people can rely on.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Circulo 3 is one step forward in accessibility and speed as well as a another another step toward HoloFuel and the broader future we're building together.
